On behalf of Russian President Vladimir Putin, Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoygu visited Syria, where he held talks with President of the Arab Republic Bashar al-Assad. According to the Defense Ministry, the parties discussed the situation in Idlib and cooperation in the fight against terrorism.
"During the talks, issues of ensuring a cessation of hostilities in the Idlib de-escalation zone, stabilization of the situation in other parts of Syria, as well as various aspects of military-technical cooperation in the joint fight against international terrorist groups were discussed," the message reads, in particular.
In addition, the issues of Russia's humanitarian assistance to the Syrian population, as well as the restoration of the economic potential of the Republic with the help of Russian specialists, were touched upon.
