Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu in telephone conversation with his US counterpart Mark Esper expressed concern about the destruction of international arms control treaties by the United States.
"The Russian side expressed concern over the consistent destruction of international arms control treaties by the US, including the Open Skies Treaty," the message of the Defense Ministry reads.
At the same time, the Russian Minister confirmed his readiness to discuss topical international security issues with the United States within the framework of a bilateral dialogue.
"The Russian side confirmed its readiness to discuss the entire range of topical international security issues with the American side within the framework of a bilateral strategic dialogue," the Ministry reports.
Shoigu also suggested the American counterpart to share the experience of military specialists in the fight against the coronavirus and consolidate the efforts of the two countries in the fight against the pandemic.
"The Russian Defense Minister proposed to consolidate the efforts of the two countries in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic in order to effectively respond to such situations in the future, as well as to exchange experience between specialized military specialists who were engaged in this work," the report says.
Separately, Sergei Shoigu invited Mark Esper to attend the June 24 military parade in Red Square.
"General of the Army Sergei Shoigu has invited Mark Esper to attend the June 24 military parade in Red Square in honor of the 75th anniversary of the Victory," the Defense Ministry said.
