Head of the State Duma Committee on International Affairs Leonid Slutsky believes that the speech of the Russian President Vladimir Putin at the session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) was the speech of the peacekeeper leader, the Deputy told TASS on Tuesday.

"Putin's speech at the 75th UN General Assembly was the speech of the peacekeeper leader, which was in particular contrast to the statements of President Trump. Trump used the virtual UN podium mainly for the American voter, again blaming Beijing for the pandemic and talking about the US contribution to the development of NATO," explained Slutsky, who was part of the Russian delegation to the 75th UN General Assembly.

"Vladimir Putin, on the contrary, spoke about the need for a common contribution to the fight against coronavirus, including by strengthening the capacity of the WHO, as well as increasing the role of the UN in global security issues. One of the key proposals, in my opinion, were proposals to conclude international obligations to prevent the militarization of space," he added.

According to him, Russia has a comprehensive and responsible approach to the problems of preserving peace on the planet, which "fully corresponds to the goals and objectives of the UN." "The United States continues to be guided by national selfishness and try to pull the blanket over itself in the international arena," Slutsky said.
