Earlier, a member of the European Parliament from Poland, Jacek Saryusz-Wolski, said that sanctions for the events in Belarus, where protests continued several days after the presidential election, should be imposed against Russia.
"The calls of the MEP to impose sanctions against Russia for the events in Belarus, at first glance, are another manifestation of Russophobia. However, behind this statement, the true goals of the Western establishment of support for the Belarusian opposition are clearly visible: to maximally undermine the strategic partnership and cooperation between Minsk and Moscow by applying the Ukrainian scenario in Belarus," Slutsky told reporters.
He noted that there was no Russian intervention in Belarus.
"On the contrary, there is pressure and interference from the West. Lithuania, Latvia and Poland, without any discussion with the official Belarusian side, have already prepared their plan for "resolving the crisis", which looks more like an ultimatum. Sanctions are also threatened by overseas. The Belarusian society is able to independently understand the situation in the country without prompting from the outside, " the MP added.
