After the long break a ferry communication between Sochi and Trabzon is planned to be resumed on May 11th. This was reported to TASS on Monday by the Turkish company Scholt Tour, which is the tour operator of the project.
"Initially the ferry service was planned to start on May 1. In connection with the May holidays (Labor Day and Victory Day) at the request of the Russian side the departure of the first ferry was postponed to Thursday, May 11," the company said, adding that in Trabzon there will be a ceremony to meet the ferry with the participation of officials.
The ferry will operate from Sochi on Tuesdays and Thursdays. For the time being one vessel is planned to be used on the line.
Head of Commercial and Industrial Chamber of Turkish Trabzon Erkut Celebi has informed earlier that regular ferry communication between Trabzon and Sochi is planned from May the 1st. According to him ferries will be able to carry 300 passengers and more than 200 cars.
