Sri Lanka intends to strengthen military cooperation with Russia. The country's Ambassador in Moscow, Dayan Jayatilleka announced about it in an interview for TASS.
He recalled that today the two countries already have an agreement on cooperation and mutual training of military specialists.
In connection with the April 21st terrorist attacks, the implementation of these agreements, according to the Diplomat, slowed down a bit because “everything is now focused on overcoming the threat” that the country faces”.
It is reported that on the margins of the Moscow Conference on International Security, which was held in April, a meeting of the Sri Lankan delegation with Representatives of the Russian Ministry of Defense was held. The Sri Lankan Diplomat did not disclose the details of the negotiations, but mentioned that "the meeting went well."
