Syrian MFA blames US for attack in Shiraz

The Syrian foreign ministry believes that the US was behind the preparation of a terrorist attack in the city of Shiraz. This was reported in a statement issued by the diplomatic office on Thursday.


"Syria categorically condemns the cowardly attack on the Shah Cheragh mausoleum in Shiraz, which again demonstrated that terrorism has become a major tool in the hands of the United States political leadership," the document said. - "The US side is using terrorist attacks as a means of destabilizing states to further bend them to its will."


The Syrian foreign ministry also declared its absolute solidarity with Iran "in the fight against terrorism and conspirators" and expressed its condolences to the families of the victims and the injured.


On October 26, three unidentified individuals opened fire at the Shah Cheragh mausoleum in Shiraz, located in Fars province. Law enforcement forces were able to detain two of the gunmen, and a third is being searched for. According to the latest data provided by IRNA agency, 15 people were killed and 27 wounded in the attack. The Islamic State terrorist group (banned in Russia) claimed responsibility for the attack.
