The lower house of Tajikistan's parliament has ratified agreements with Russia for the construction of a new building for the Vladimir Mayakovsky Theater and a center for gifted children in Dushanbe. This information was disclosed by the press service of the parliamentary chamber.
The agreements were inked on December 18, 2023, in Moscow during a meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the two countries, attended by Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin and Tajik Prime Minister Kohir Rasulzoda. According to the Deputy Prime Minister's press office, the agreements pertained to the construction of a new building for the Vladimir Mayakovsky State Russian Drama Theater, following the demolition of its old building in Dushanbe in 2016. The second agreement focused on establishing a center for the identification and development of gifted children, modeled after Russia's Sirius center.
During the fifth session of parliament, lawmakers also reviewed several bills and amendments to laws, as reported by the state-run Khovar Agency. Additionally, they discussed international cooperation documents, including an agreement between the governments of Tajikistan and Turkey on military-financial cooperation, and a protocol on financial assistance between the two countries.
