Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and signed several documents on cooperation with Turkish partners, the press service of the head of the republic reported.
"As part of his working visit to Ankara, President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov met with President of the Turkish Republic Recep Tayyip Erdogan," the report said.
It is noted that Turkey is one of the leading foreign partners of Tatarstan. In 2020, bilateral trade turnover exceeded 360 million dollars. Turkish companies have invested about $2 billion in the republic, 10 enterprises with Turkish capital operate in Tatarstan.
"Our contacts give a good impetus to the development of Tatar-Turkish trade, economic and investment cooperation aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Turkey. We strive to act as an effective link between our states. It's important that the sides are set on further development of contacts," Minnikhanov said during the meeting with Erdogan.
According to the press service, a number of documents on cooperation were signed during the visit. In particular, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the government of Tatarstan and the Valley of Information Technology Development Zone on the project for development of SEZ Innopolis, a memorandum of intent between PJSC Tatneft and the Ministry of Industry and Technology of Turkey on cooperation in the chemical industry, a memorandum with Tatneft on consideration of a project in the area of oil chemistry in the organized industrial zone GEBKIM.
"Two days of very dense work have given us a lot of interesting projects that will be implemented both in the Russian Federation (Tatarstan) and in the territory of the Republic of Turkey. I would like to thank my colleagues for the rich and useful working program," noted Minnikhanov.
