Test of combat readiness of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan started

A test of combat readiness of the 201st Russian base, Russia's largest military facility outside its borders, has begun in Tajikistan. The commander of the compound, Yevgeny Kovylin, told journalists on Thursday that combat artillery and tank firing and UAV training as part of firing complexes will take place.


According to the press service of the Central Military District, monitoring exercises will continue until April 30. The training will involve Grad and Uragan multiple launch rocket system, Akatsiya 152-mm self-propelled artillery pieces, Sani  120-mm mortars,  T-72 tanks, BMP-2  infantry fighting vehicles and  BTR-82A. armored personnel carriers 


"The servicemen will have to demonstrate their professional training in the subjects of training, as well as perform test firing exercises from small arms and standard armament of combat vehicles. Artillery units will take part in firing and fire control exercises. The commanders of motorized rifle battalions and companies will be evaluated during the control of artillery, reconnaissance units, unmanned aerial vehicle systems as part of reconnaissance and fire complexes," said Colonel Kovylin.


The base stationed in Tajikistan is located in the cities of Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defense, radiation defense and communications units.
