On May, 31 the 14th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation will take place in Mecca. The OIC session will be held under the slogan “Together for the sake of the future” in the 50th anniversary year of the Organization.
The main topics for the discussion at the event will be the Palestine Question, the situation in Syria, Yemen, Libya and Sudan, as well as the fight against Islamophobia and the issues of Muslim minorities in different countries, including the situation of the Rohingya people in Myanmar. Separately, the leaders of the Islamic countries will touch upon the Iranian Dossier.
It is expected that the participants of the Forum will be leaders of states and governments, the leadership of the Islamic Development Bank, Ministers of Foreign Affairs from 56 states that are members of the OIC.
In the run-up to the Summit, the meeting of the Committee of Senior Officials and the meeting of the OIC Ministers of Foreign Affairs are planned, where the texts of the final communiqué and the resolution on Palestine will be discussed. The documents will be signed by the leaders of the delegations at the Summit of the Organization.
It is worth mentioning the fact that the OIC was founded on September, 25, 1969 with the aim to ensure Islamic solidarity in social, economic and political spheres, as well as to struggle against colonialism, neo-colonialism and racism and to support the Palestine Liberation Organization.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation is the largest and the most influential official governmental Muslim international organization and today it unites 57 countries with the total population of about 1,5 billion people.
