The UN is grateful to Russia for supporting its aviation humanitarian operations aimed at containing the coronavirus pandemic, a statement by the press service of the UN following negotiations of the Deputy of UN Secretary-General Atul Khare and the head of Rosaviation Alexander Neradko reads.
"The parties discussed issues related to aviation services provided by the Russian Federation to UN peacekeeping operations, including in the implementation of measures to counter the COVID-19 pandemic," the report says.
"Deputy Secretary-General Khare expressed gratitude to the Russian Federation for its contribution to global efforts to contain the pandemic, in particular for the fact that the Russian Federation became the first UN air carrier to agree to transport patients with COVID-19," the organization said. "The readiness of Russian specialists to help the UN in providing vital assistance in Mali, Afghanistan and Sudan is highly appreciated."
