Tokayev: Central Asian Countries Need Enhanced Security Cooperation

08 August

Kazakhstan’s President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has asserted the necessity for Central Asian states to unify in the realm of defense policy.

“Given the ongoing complex military and political situation around Central Asia, there is a pressing need for cooperation in defense policy and security. This includes creating a regional security framework, developing a catalog of security risks for Central Asia, and implementing measures to address these risks,” Tokayev stated in his article "Central Asia Renaissance: Toward Sustainable Development and Prosperity," published in Kazakhstanskaya Pravda.

Tokayev emphasized that Kazakhstan, as a responsible member of the international community, advocates for strict adherence to international law, respect for sovereignty, and the inviolability of borders.

“The primary priorities for the region include forming an integrated security space in Central Asia, finding comprehensive solutions to both traditional and new threats, developing response and prevention strategies, and actively cooperating with the UN and other international and regional organizations,” the president of Kazakhstan added.
