Trade Volume Between Russia and Tajikistan Increases by 12.6% in 2023

The physical volume of goods supplied between Russia and Tajikistan in 2023 saw a 12.6% increase, reaching over 1.3 million tons. Monetarily, the trade turnover set a new record, as reported by the Russian trade mission in Dushanbe.

 

"The trade turnover between the countries in 2023 compared to 2022 increased by 2.7% and reached $1,714.9 million, surpassing the historical maximum. The physical volumes amounted to 1,318.0 thousand tons and increased by 12.6%," the report states.

 

The trade mission noted that more than 40% of goods imported into Tajikistan from Russia in 2023 were mineral products, including oil products. Non-resource non-energy goods accounted for 59.8% of deliveries from Russia to the republic in 2023. Supplies from the Russian Federation of food and raw materials increased by 11.5%, wood and pulp and paper by 10.3%, and products made of stone, gypsum, cement, asbestos, and glass by 3%.

 

The trade mission also highlighted that in 2023, supplies of goods from Tajikistan to Russia increased significantly. "Supplies of goods to Russia from Tajikistan last year amounted to $134.7 million (up 52.7%), and their total weight - 55.9 thousand tons (up 34.2%)," the report said. Russian market participants purchased food and agricultural raw materials, chemical industry products, cotton, and cotton yarn in the republic.

 

In 2023, 71 regions of Russia maintained economic ties with Tajikistan, and the leaders in exports, according to the trade mission, were Moscow, St. Petersburg, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk, Moscow, Samara, and Sverdlovsk regions, as well as Krasnoyarsk Krai, Tatarstan, and Bashkorstan. The leaders in the import of products from Tajikistan were Moscow, St. Petersburg, as well as Ivanovo, Moscow, Sverdlovsk, Tula regions, and Altai Krai.

 

Earlier, the Agency for Statistics under the President of Tajikistan reported that the republic's trade turnover with Russia exceeded $1.7 billion in 2023. According to the year's results, Russia became the first trade partner of the republic among other countries, with a share of 20.6% of the total foreign trade turnover of Tajikistan.
