27 September 2023

Transneft and Kazakhstan have signed an agreement for the transit of Kazakh oil through Russia in 2024, according to a statement by the Russian company. The agreement was reached following a visit by a Transneft delegation to Kazakhstan.

The agreement covers the provision of transportation services for Kazakh oil in transit through Russia in 2024 and includes an updated memorandum of cooperation between PJSC Transneft and JSC Kaztransoil.

Kazakh oil is transported in transit through Russia via Makhachkala in the direction of Novorossiysk, as well as through the Atyrau-Samara oil pipeline, which is part of Transneft's main system. Additional volumes are distributed in the direction of the ports of Novorossiysk, Ust-Luga, and for transit through the Druzhba pipeline to Germany.

During the visit, Nikolai Tokarev, the head of Transneft, met with Kazakh President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev. Discussions focused on energy transportation cooperation between the two countries and the status and prospects of cooperation within the Caspian Pipeline Consortium.

The Russian delegation also held talks with Magzum Mirzagaliyev, chairman of the board of Kazmunaigas, and Talgat Kurmanbayev, general director of Kaztransoil.
