The treaty between Russia and Egypt on comprehensive partnership and strategic cooperation entered into force on January 10, the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
"The document provides for further strengthening of Russian-Egyptian cooperation in political, trade and economic, cultural and other areas, defines mechanisms for deepening coordination between Moscow and Cairo at various levels," the ministry pointed out.
The agreement was signed in Sochi on October 17, 2018, following Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi's visit to Russia.
The Foreign Ministry stressed that the entry into force of the document was "an important milestone on the path of the progressive development of traditionally friendly Russian-Egyptian relations."
