According to Cavusoglu, "Turkey is in favor of the earliest possible cessation" of hostilities in Ukraine and "achieving a lasting and just peace." The Turkish foreign minister recalled that Ankara closed the Bosphorus Strait for the passage of warships to the Black Sea with the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine. "We invoked Article 19 of the Montreux Convention, which prevented military tension in the Black Sea basin. The Black Sea is our common home, we need to protect our common interests," the Turkish minister said.
