Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said he sees no political reasons for Moscow's decision to limit air links with the republic. The NTV channel reported this on Wednesday.
"I see no political reasons in Russia's decision to limit flights. We are working [with the Russian side] on the issue of resuming air communication," he said. The minister recalled that a delegation from Russia will come to Turkey "to see on the spot all the measures taken" by the country in the fight against the spread of the coronavirus.
From April 15 to June 1 Russia limits passenger flights to Turkey because of the new outbreak of coronavirus in the country - the number of flights will be reduced to two per week on a reciprocal basis. Flights to Tanzania will also be suspended. This decision was made by the federal operational headquarters to combat the coronavirus.
For his part, the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov said that Russia's restriction of passenger flights to Turkey "has no political motives and is associated with a fairly sharp outbreak of the disease in Turkey".
