The Sputnik V vaccine has been approved for emergency use in Turkey, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) reports.
"The RDIF announces the registration of the Russian coronavirus vaccine Sputnik V by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Turkey. The registration was carried out under an emergency use authorization, (EUA). Turkey has become the 63rd country where the use of Sputnik V has been approved," the fund reported.
Turkish Health Minister Fahrettin Koca also made a statement to this effect, the Anatolian News Agency reports. According to him, "based on the results of the study, approval was given for the emergency use of Sputnik V."
On April 26, the Russian Direct Investment Fund and the Turkish pharmaceutical company Viscoran Ilac agreed on the production of the Sputnik V vaccine in Turkey. The manufacturer has already prepared to localize production and plans to start producing Sputnik V in the next few months at several facilities, the fund said. Koca on Wednesday confirmed that he had signed an agreement with the Russian Federation to supply the vaccine and transfer the technology for its production.
