The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has conveyed its gratitude for the chance to become a part of BRICS and eagerly anticipates fostering productive collaboration with its fellow members within the association, UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan said.
"We deeply value the BRICS leaders' decision to include the United Arab Emirates in this significant community. We eagerly anticipate our collective efforts towards the advancement and well-being of all nations and people across the globe," the president wrote on the social networking platform X (formerly Twitter).
Earlier, the expansion of BRICS was announced by South African President Cyril Ramaphosa during the 15th summit of the association, taking place from August 22 to 24 in Johannesburg. Starting from January 1, 2024, Argentina, Egypt, Iran, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Ethiopia will become new members of BRICS.
