Ukraine Imposes Sanctions on IRGC and 42 Legal Entities from Iran, China, UAE, and Russia

20 September

Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has signed a decree enacting the National Security and Defense Council's (NSDC) decision to impose sanctions on 42 legal entities and six individuals from Iran, China, the UAE, and Russia. The document was published on the official website of the President’s office.

Among the sanctioned entities are the Aerospace Forces of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), companies from Iran, China, and the UAE involved in the production of high-tech equipment, including drone components, as well as Russian manufacturing companies, military units, research institutions, and government organizations.

One of the individuals listed in the document is Alexander Fedorko, head of the State Center for Unmanned Aviation of Russia’s Ministry of Defense.

The sanctions include asset freezes, bans on activities within Ukraine, the cessation of trade and financial operations with Ukraine, capital transfer restrictions outside the country, and other measures. The sanctions will be in effect for 10 years.

Zelensky regularly signs decrees imposing sanctions on Russian individuals and legal entities, as well as citizens of other countries accused by Kiev of cooperating with Russia. The development and implementation of sanctions involve multiple officials, with ministries and agencies creating sanctions lists and submitting proposals. The NSDC then makes the relevant decisions, while Kyiv consistently pressures Western nations to adopt its sanctions proposals against Russia.
