US has imposed sanctions against companies and citizens of Russia, Turkey and Iraq

26 February 2020

The US has imposed sanctions on 13 individuals and juridical persons in China, Iraq, Russia and Turkey. According to a statement by the US Secretary Michael Pompeo, the reason for the sanctions is non - compliance with the US law on the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction against Iran, North Korea and Syria.

The duration of the sanctions is two years, but, as noted, can be reduced or terminated by a separate decision of the Secretary of State.

The sanctions include a ban on any US ministries and agencies purchasing products and services of a blacklisted organization, selling weapons and military equipment by Washington, and issuing  US licenses to purchase goods subject to export control.

What exactly are the claims against companies and citizens included in the sanctions list, however, is not specified.
