Uzbekistan to develop proposals for further integration with EAEU

31 January 2022

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed Development Strategy of Uzbekistan for 2022-2026, in accordance with which the agreement on the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be analyzed and proposals for further integration of the republic with this international association will be worked out. The document was posted on the website of the national legislation base Lex.uz on Monday.

The document provides "a deep analysis of the Treaty on the Eurasian Economic Union and development of relevant proposals". It is noted that this work should be completed by the end of 2022.

The document also notes that a road map for strategy implementation will be developed and approved, which implies further improvement of national policy of technical regulation and standardization for harmonious entry into the EEU market. In addition, the republic's authorities intend to study the trade policy of this association with third countries.

Uzbekistan has been an observer in the EEU since the end of 2020, and last December Mirziyoyev proposed expanding the participation of the EEU observer countries in the activities of the Eurasian Economic Commission.

Currently, the EEU members are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan. Along with Uzbekistan, Moldova and Cuba have observer status in the organization.
