Law enforcement officials of Kazakhstan are investigating more than 2.7 thousand criminal cases after the riots in the country. This was reported at a briefing on Friday by the deputy head of the first service of the general prosecutor's office of the Republic, Yeldos Kilimzhanov.
"As of February 4, 2,750 criminal cases are being investigated by investigative teams. In these cases, 802 suspects are in custody with court authorisation. Of those, 113 have a criminal record for murder, theft, robbery, as well as supporters of radical religions," said Kilimzhanov.
He noted that 91 individuals were subjected to measures of restraint not related to strict isolation from society. "Particular attention is paid to verifying allegations of illegal actions by law enforcement agencies. To date, the prosecutor's office has received 148 complaints of the use of unauthorized methods of investigation, abuse of power and abuse of authority. Of these, 105 criminal cases have been initiated," explained a representative of the prosecutor general's office.
