President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed a decree according to which valuable gifts will be given to veterans in honor of the 78th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, Neytralny Turkmenistan reported on Thursday.
The president instructed heads of regions, cities and districts to organize gift-giving in a festive atmosphere. The decree also ordered to give veterans cash gifts in the amount of 200 manats ($57.1).
According to the newspaper, the day before, Berdimuhamedov held a meeting of the State Security Council of Turkmenistan. During it, the Turkmen leader instructed Secretary of the State Security Council and Defense Minister Begench Gundogdiyev to ensure a high organizational level of events on the occasion of Victory Day in the Halk Hakydasy Memorial Complex in Ashgabat, as well as in the velayats (regions).
According to the Russian embassy in Ashgabat, 40 veterans of the Great Patriotic War live in Turkmenistan.
