The Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) has managed to prove its sustainability in spite of the pressure of some external factors. President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Zhaparov said this on Monday in an address on the occasion of the anniversary of the EEU's formation.

"Today, the union is a well-established project, which has proved its viability in difficult conditions of external factors," he said. According to the president, May 29 marks annually the "importance of the union" and its significant role in developing the economic cooperation, improving the living standards of citizens and creating the sustainable development in the region. "The Eurasian Economic Union has become a powerful mechanism for bringing together common goals and strengthening our cooperation, which allows us to reach new heights in cooperation," Zhaparov said.

He recalled that the republic joined the organization in 2015, making "a decisive step toward joint development and deepening integration in all sectors of the economy."

Along with Kyrgyzstan, the EEU includes Russia, Armenia, Belarus and Kazakhstan.
