I welcome the Russia – Islamic World group, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov and all the guests. It is a great pleasure for us to receive representatives of such an top-level international organization as the Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group in Grozny.
The venue for the third annual meeting was chosen for a particular reason: our Republic has close contacts with many countries of the Middle East. We have enjoyed productive cooperation with them for many years now. The meeting will focus on issues of security and economic cooperation between Russia and Muslim states.
International terrorism represents a major challenge today. We are seeing tragic developments in Syria and Iraq, involving civilian casualties. The Chechen Republic has first-hand experience of what it is. Terrorists sought to establishe their own order and impose their norms and an ideology that run counter to all moral principles of Islam on the territory of the Republic.
First Chechen President of the Chechen Republic Akmat Kadyrov devoted his life to studying Islam. He fought for genuine Islam. He was outspoken in his condemnation of the killings committed by extremists.
These savages shot at our mosques, civilians and imams. They started a bloody war that only two people were able to stop – Russian President Vladimir Putin and his loyal ally Akhmat Kadyrov. They put an end to the terrible times that our Chechen people had to go through against its will. The Republic was restored from ruins and got back on the path of strengthening Islamic values and peace between different ethnic groups.
Today, thanks to the policies by Russian President Vladimir Putin, the country remains the most loyal ally and defender of Islam.
This is the only country that takes effective measures to fight terrorist organizations. But to completely eradicate them we need unanimous support from the international community. We are certain that the meeting of the Russia – Islamic World strategic vision group will become a major contribution on the path towards that goal. I wish you all productive deliberations.
