The branch of Kazan Federal University (KFU) in Cairo is set to commence operations in October, with approximately 1,000 students embarking on their studies, Timirkhan Alishev, the Vice-Rector for External Relations at the university told TASS on the sidelines of the Rostki (Seedlings) forum in Kazan.
"The admission campaign is currently ongoing, and we intend to commence the education of up to a thousand students at the branch this year. We will be offering four educational programs. We are hopeful for a successful start," Alishev stated. "The academic year in Egyptian universities typically begins around mid-October. Consequently, our branch is expected to open within that timeframe, approximately between October 15 and 20. We are currently in the final stages of document preparation," the vice-rector remarked.
The branch in Cairo will be KFU's second, with another one already operational in Uzbekistan. Alishev mentioned that the university is exploring the possibility of establishing branches in other countries. He emphasized, "Our primary concern is the quality of education and our ability to uphold educational standards in these nations. We always make such decisions with careful consideration."
Kazan Federal University, established on November 5, 1804, is among Russia's oldest universities. The university operates three branches within Tatarstan, located in Naberezhnye Chelny, Yelabuga, and Chistopol. Additionally, it has a branch in Uzbekistan, situated in the city of Jizak.
The inaugural Russian-Chinese forum, known as "Rostki: Russia and China - Mutually Beneficial Cooperation," is currently being held in Kazan from September 7 to 8. The forum comprises business activities alongside cultural and sports programs, with TASS serving as the official news agency for the forum.
