The events celebrating Kurban Bayram, the main Muslim holiday, will be held on Wednesday in all mosques of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia (RBM RF) in Moscow and 55 other places in the Moscow region. There are no restrictions on holding the holiday, Deputy Chairman of RBM RF Mufti Rushan Abbyasov said on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, June 28, Muslims celebrate one of Islam's two major holidays, Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram), or the holiday of sacrifice, which marks the end of the Hajj rites - the pilgrimage to the holy sites of Islam in Saudi Arabia.
"All our mosques in Moscow tomorrow will host the holiday at 7:00 a.m.; additional sites have also been allocated. We have prepared 55 sites near Moscow, together with the government of the Moscow region, where also our believers will listen to sermons of our imam at 7:00 a.m. <...> Due to the recent events, holding the celebration was in doubt, but yesterday the CTO [counter-terrorist operation] regime was lifted in the regions, we will be able to hold everything properly," he said.
The mufti noted that sacrifices on the occasion of the holiday will take place in specially designated places. There are no such places in Moscow, but there are in the Moscow region, so believers from the capital can come to the region.
