Crimean ports can become Russia's main southern sea gateway as part of the development of trade and economic relations with Syria, said the Crimean Permanent Representative under the Russian president and Deputy Prime Minister of the republic, Georgy Muradov.
A government delegation from Syria is on a two-day visit to Crimea. A meeting of a joint working group on trade and economic cooperation is scheduled for Tuesday.
"The ports of Crimea are ready to become Russia's main southern sea gateway as part of the development of trade and economic relations with Syria. Crimea is open to supply commodity products to Syria without fear of any sanctions," Muradov told RIA Novosti.
According to him, representatives of other Russian regions can trade with Syria through Crimea without any sanctions risks.
The permanent representative stressed that a joint Crimean-Syrian trading house has already been established, with one branch in Russia and the other in Syria.
"Now we are working to increase the trade turnover with Syria," Muradov stressed.
