Four Hizb ut-Tahrir cells liquidated in Penza, Ufa, and Chelyabinsk

The Russian Federal Security Service liquidated four cells of the terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir in Penza, Ufa and Chelyabinsk, detaining four leaders and 11 active participants. This was reported to TASS on Wednesday by the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the Federal Security Service of Russia.


"The Federal Security Service in cooperation with the Interior Ministry and the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation in late June - early July 2021 in Penza, Ufa and Chelyabinsk neutralized four concealed cells of the international terrorist organization Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami, banned in Russia by the Supreme Court decision. Four leaders and 11 active members from among the citizens of Russia and countries of the Central Asian region were detained," reported the Central Election Committee.


According to the FSB, the detainees carried out targeted work to spread terrorist ideology on the territory of the Russian Federation at the direction of foreign emissaries of the international terrorist organization. The FSB said, "In the process of conspiratorial meetings they recruited local Muslims and migrant workers from Russia into their ranks," the FSB reported.


Propaganda materials of Hizb ut-Tahrir al-Islami banned in Russia, means of communication and electronic media used by them in conducting terrorist activities were confiscated from the detainees. Criminal cases were initiated.
