FSB reported prevention of terrorist attack in Kaluga region

The Federal Security Service prevented a terrorist attack at a chemical plant in the Kaluga region. Two natives of Central Asia, supporters of the banned in Russia organization "Islamic State" (IS), were liquidated during an attempt to detain them. This was reported to TASS on Friday by the Center for Public Relations (CPR) of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB).

 

"An act of terrorism was prevented in the Kaluga region, which was planned with incendiary mixtures for blowing up tanks with fuel and lubricants and using an improvised explosive device at a chemical industry enterprise by two natives of the Central Asian republics," the CPR said.

 

"The perpetrators swore an oath to the international terrorist organization Islamic State banned in the Russian Federation and after committing the crime planned to go to the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic in the zone of armed conflict," the FSB reported.

 

During the arrest they showed armed resistance and were wounded by return fire, incompatible with life. There were no losses among law enforcement officers and no civilian casualties. An explosives laboratory, a powerful improvised explosive device, ready for use, incendiary containers, ammunition and firearms were found at their place of concealment. The criminal case was initiated under part 1 of article 30 and part 2 of article 205 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Preparation to an act of terrorism").
