01 April 2021

Moscow's first specialized store of Muslim literature "Barakat" opened at Moscow Cathedral Mosque on Thursday. It will feature literature in more than 15 languages of Russia and Asian countries, according to the press service of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation.

Mufti Ravil Gaynutdin, chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims and the Council of Muftis of Russia (CMR), called it a historic event. "We haven't had a store where literature was presented in such a way before. Of course, something else, more commercial, could have been done here, but we found it necessary to create a book store - it is very important," he said at the opening.

The bookstore project was approved by the Russian Religious Board of Muslims. According to the information of the organization, it is the first similar store of Islamic spiritual literature in the capital. It is assumed that editions of the Quran, works on Islamic law and theology, history and religious practice will be sold there. It will also feature the stories of the prophets, manuals of the Arabic language, children's literature, and publications in the languages of the peoples practicing Islam.
