The Kremlin is concerned about the growth of the coronavirus infection and mortality, but despite the sad statistics, it is confident that the situation is under control, presidential spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said.

"We see that the epidemic is spreading very strongly, which is why we are taking very energetic measures to encourage all our people to take strict precautions, which we did not observe for quite a long time, we must admit," he said.

When asked whether the information that almost 90% of the bed fund is already used in a number of regions is alarming, Peskov noted that this information is better clarified in the operational headquarters.

"But naturally, all these parameters are carefully monitored, and measures are taken to somehow reserve a certain number of beds and create new ones if necessary, we mean the re-profiling of other medical facilities. This practice has already been worked out and it is being done very quickly," he said.

According to official data, in the last 24 hours, a record increase in the incidence of COVID-19 has been recorded in Russia - 15,150 new cases in 85 regions. Moscow showed the maximum daily increase since May 12 - 5 049 new cases. Officials in some regions started to say that there is a lack of doctors because of sickness rate growth and because the doctors themselves get infected.

Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova estimates the employment of infectious beds in the country at 76%, the Ministry of Health - at 90%. At the same time, all officials say that there are no grounds for an economic lockdown now.
