Mass vaccination against coronavirus started in the Russian army

Mass vaccination against COVID-19 has started in the Russian Armed Forces, it is planned to vaccinate more than 400 thousand soldiers, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said on Friday.


"According to the President's instruction, vaccination of the Armed Forces personnel against the new coronavirus infection has begun. In total, it is planned to vaccinate more than 400 thousand servicemen," he said at a meeting of the military department board.


According to the minister, now more than 2.5 thousand military personnel are vaccinated, by the end of the year this number should grow to 80 thousand.


In addition, the Russian Armed Forces are conducting studies on the use of plasma vaccinated servicemen with a high titer of antibodies to treat COVID-19.


"The use of this technique has already shown its effectiveness in severe forms of the disease. To date, more than 500 vaccinated servicemen have been involved in the research," Shoigu said, without specifying other details.
