Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin sent congratulations to the country's Muslims on Eid al-Adha, noting that Russia's Ummah unites millions of believers.

"The Russian Ummah unites millions of believers and is involved in all spheres of public life. It carries out great charitable and educational activities and implements significant initiatives and projects," the prime minister said in a telegram published Wednesday on the website of the cabinet.

The prime minister pointed out that the Muslim Ummah of Russia is also doing a lot to improve religious education, moral and patriotic upbringing of the younger generation, as well as strengthening interreligious and interethnic harmony. Mishustin stressed that the Ummah's consistent position on countering attempts to spread radical and extremist ideas deserves special respect.

"Every year, interaction between Russian Muslim organizations and state authorities is expanding. Thanks to this, cultural sites are being restored, new mosques and educational institutions are being built," the prime minister concluded, wishing everyone peace, health and well-being.

Muslims on Wednesday celebrate one of the two main holidays of Islam - Eid al-Adha (Kurban Bayram), or the Feast of Sacrifice, which marks the completion of the Hajj rites - a pilgrimage to the holy places of Islam in Saudi Arabia.
