Prayers in Russian mosques during the Muslim holy month of Ramadan, which begins on April 12, will be held in compliance with all sanitary norms on coronavirus that are in force in each particular subject, Ravil Gaynutdin, head of the Russian Muftis Council and the Religious Board of Muslims of the Russian Federation, told reporters.
"For our part, we have already made a decision, agreed with all the services that control the development of the pandemic, and announced on the basis of the theological conclusion of the Ulema Council of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, the Russian Muftis Council: the blessed month of Ramadan comes after sunset on April 12 and the first day of the great fasting of the holy month of Ramadan will be April 13. In all our mosques we will conduct prayers in compliance with sanitary norms," Gaynutdin said.
According to him, areas for Muslims who won't be able to enter the mosques will be prepared for praying in the courtyards of the mosques, also in compliance with the social distance and all sanitary norms, which are established in a particular region.
Mufti noted that Ramadan tents for Iftar (dinners) are also allowed to be set up in Russian cities with observance of Rospotrebnadzor requirements.
