It is possible to "do the sacrifice" on the Muslim Kurban Bayram holiday during the pandemic remotely by online ordering, the muftis told at a press conference in the MIA "Rossiya Segodnya".
The Feast of Sacrifice Eid al-Adha (in Arabic) is one of the main holidays of Muslims. It is celebrated on the 10th day of the Dhul Hijjah month of the Islamic lunar calendar and lasts three days. In 2021, it will begin on July 20. In Moscow, Moscow Region, St. Petersburg and a number of other regions, due to the epidemiological situation, holiday prayers will be held online, and Muslims are recommended to spend the holiday with their families.
"In different regions of our country, centers are organized at a high level according to all norms of sanitary and epidemiological surveillance... Every religious organization, muftiat has a partner who performs the ritual of sacrifice according to the halal standard. A man can even choose an animal online, pay, they will do everything properly and then return the meat," says Moscow Mufti, head of the Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of the Russian Federation Albir Krganov.
He noted that slaughterhouses where sacrifices are made have a "more reverent attitude toward animals." "Of course, for the sake of contentment of the Almighty the sacrifice is brought, it is divided into three parts - one to the family, another to treat relatives, the third is distributed to the poor poor," the Mufti added.
Imam-mukhtasib of the Mukhtasibat Muslim Assembly of the Moscow region Denis Mukhutdinov said that the slaughtering of sacrificial animals is performed in the Moscow region by people who know all the canons.
"The slaughtering of sacrificial animals in the Moscow region takes place according to the following algorithm: a person simply calls to certain slaughterhouses, pays for the sacrificial animal, and all the necessary rituals are performed at the slaughterhouse by people who know the canons. Meat from sacrificial animals is delivered to people in need and directly to the person who makes slaughter," said the imam-mukhtasib.
First Deputy Mufti of Tatarstan Ilfar Khasanov said that it is also possible to make sacrifices on the holiday "remotely, by order, using the service of home delivery".
"As for the slaughter of animals, we have long moved to the format of working with companies that have a license to do so. Our department has been cooperating for the last 10 years with certain places that organize this whole event. There are no ordinary people allowed to these places; there are only staff and representatives of the Religious Board who regulate the process. We've launched a campaign for the collection of Kurban, the incoming funds are used to buy animals, the meat is distributed according to the wishes of those who donate Kurban," said the Deputy Mufti of Muslims of the Crimea Esadullah Bairov.
In Dagestan, according to Akhmad Nadyrbekov, assistant to the Mufti of the republic, applications for sacrificial animals are also collected online, and meat is delivered to homes.
The chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of the Republic of Bashkortostan Mufti Aynur Birgalin said that since last year there were special places in the republic where animals were slaughtered.
"Last year we, together with the Government of the Republic, Ufa City Administration and heads of the districts, allocated special places for this purpose - large squares, where animal pens are lined up and veterinary services control the slaughter of sacrificial animals and everything is outside the city," said Mufti Birgalin.
