Muslims in Russia treat the mask regime with understanding and welcome the decision of Rospotrebnadzor that recommended Russians to wear masks in public places since October 28, chairman of Spiritual assembly of Muslims of Russia Mufti Albir Krganov told RIA Novosti.

On Tuesday, the decision of chief state sanitary doctor of the RF, head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova about additional measures for the reduction of risks of COVID-19 spreading was published. Rospotrebnadzor recommended all Russians to wear masks in places of mass stay, and regions - to prohibit entertainment and catering services in the period from 23 to 6 hours.

"We welcome Rospotrebnadzor's decision, which requires masks to be worn in public places. The most important thing is to preserve a person's health and protect from disease. Sacred books and common sense call for this. The Ummah treats this with understanding. We should call people to observe these measures," Krganov said.

According to him, most mosques in the country already observe the social distance, masks ana gloves regime and use of antiseptics. And older people and those who have symptoms of the disease were asked not to attend mosques.

"We are constantly conducting explanatory work with believers. Because we understand that the pandemic is not over", the Mufti emphasized.

The clergy also wear masks, said Krganov. "We are not angels, we breathe the same air. Imams who lead namaz take off their masks at this time so that they can hear the texts they read but at this time they are at a great distance from other believers," the agency's interlocutor concluded.
