A unified concept of international activities may soon appear in the Muslim Ummah of Russia, said the President of the International Islamic Mission, the official representative of the Coordination Center of Muslims of the North Caucasus in Moscow, Mufti Shafig Pshikhachev at the presentation of the report "Monitoring religious freedom in the modern world" in MIA "Russia Today".
The document is a thematic review of Russian and foreign media materials and reports of human rights organizations in the period from August 2019 to May 2020. The report also contains an analysis of "the most typical features of oppression of religious freedom". The report is prepared annually by the Russian Association for the Protection of Religious Freedom, a public organization that includes representatives of different confessions in Russia.
"The voice of Muslims of Russia must be heard more often at international venues so that more people can hear us. Russian Muslims should be more active in international activities, and in a consolidated manner. There should be a single concept of international activity. At present, representatives of the Muslim Ummah of Russia are working on this issue. I think that in the near future we will have this concept," said Pshikhachev.
According to him, Russia could share with other countries its best practices in building interfaith and confessional-state relations.
"Today we can say to the international community that our model of state-church relations (successful - ed.). State and church relations in Russia today are at a very high level. And there is an improvement at all levels of government".
Mufti also noted the increased social activity of religious organizations in Russia. "Today, religious organizations, which are trying to implement social projects, solve problems by helping both society and the state," - summed up Pshikhachev.
