An additional prayer and a separate point in the sermon on preserving health and getting rid of coronavirus will be included in the spiritual program of Kurban Bayram, which Muslims celebrate on July 20. This was reported to TASS by Deputy Chairman of the Council of Muftis of Russia and member of the Presidium of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia Rushan Abbyasov.
"Since last year, when this epidemic began, we have lost imams, clerics, muftis, who, unfortunately, could not be cured after this disease. Certainly, an additional prayer, it will be dedicated to this, we will pray for a speedy recovery, a speedy normalization of the situation, and, of course, this will be mentioned in the sermons of our imams once again. I myself also prepared a sermon, and we added a separate paragraph devoted to the theme of disease and the fact that God gives us health, which we must take care of and take all necessary measures," Abbasov said.
He recalled that festive namaz (prayers) in Moscow and the Moscow Region, as well as in some regions where the epidemic situation is difficult, will be held online.
Address by the head of the Russian Religious Board
Also about the peculiarities of the current celebration of Kurban Bayram told in his festive address to the faithful Ravil Gaynutdin, chairman of the Russian Federation's Religious Board of Muslims.
" This year, when, due to the coronavirus pandemic, the believers of our country, like many others in the world, do not have the opportunity to perform the Hajj, I urge them to use this energy for the good of the community and its vital needs," the Mufti said in his statement.
The head of Russia's Religious Board of Muslims also said he appeals to the Almighty to grant everyone "good health, family happiness and overall prosperity, success in all good deeds and our Motherland - peace, stability and prosperity, to overcome all challenges, including the trial of a dangerous disease".
On the celebration of Kurban Bayram
This year Kurban Bayram, the Festival of Sacrifice, one of the two major Muslim holidays, along with Uraza Bayram, will take place on July 20. It is traditionally celebrated with mass prayers in mosques and the hajj to Mecca, which this year is also inaccessible to most Muslims because of Saudi Arabia's closed borders.
The Russian Religious Board of Muslims reported about the possibility of holding the Kurban Bayram holiday online at the end of June, if the tense epidemic situation persists. Also, Ravil Gainutdin decided not to allow mosque employees and ministers to work without a COVID-19 vaccination.
