Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the country has no plans to fully convert traditional full-time education to distance education.

"The distance education method cannot replace the real traditional one. It can only complement traditional ways of acquiring knowledge. Therefore, no one in our country plans to switch completely to distance learning. Impractical and unnecessary. I repeat: there are no such plans, " Putin said during the all-Russian open lesson on Tuesday, answering questions from schoolchildren.

The head of state noted that communication with peers and teachers is important in face-to-face training , not least because it develops a "sense of elbow" and the ability to solve problems in a team.

"As for training, there is no doubt that the element of communication with teachers is not only important, but also the element of communication with classmates. The greatest results are achieved by people who know how to work in a team, " Putin said.

The President noted at the beginning of the lesson that both students and teachers missed school during the period of the coronavirus.

On September 1, a new academic year began in Russia. Students returned to classes after a forced five-month break: this spring, schools were advised to go on vacation from March 23 to April 12 due to the situation with the spread of COVID-19, but after that, studies continued not at their desks, but in a remote format - until the summer holidays.
