The implementation of investment projects in the North Caucasus and specifically in Dagestan can have a positive impact on the situation in the labor market. This opinion was expressed by Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting on Thursday with the acting head of Dagestan Sergei Melikov via video conference.
"In general, Dagestan is developing. The volume of construction, of course, is impressive, good. Dagestan is in many ways ahead of other regions of the Russian Federation in terms of construction. Industrial production is growing, agriculture is growing a little bit. But what is especially encouraging is the availability of investment in fixed assets. I hope that, thanks to those investment projects, it will be possible to solve one of the main problems of Dagestan and the North Caucasus in general by changing for the better the situation in the labor market," Putin said.
The president pointed out that in general there are "really many problems" in the current and prospective affairs of Dagestan. In this regard, the head of state promised federal help with the modernization of infrastructure in the republic.
"We have the appropriate resources within the whole country allocated for the infrastructure: there are 500 billion and another 150 from another source. Therefore, in general, there is money, we need to fit into these programs. I will definitely give relevant instruction to the government," Putin said.
Melikov told the president that Dagestan has problems with water supply networks as well as with electricity and gas supplies. According to the acting head of the region, many facilities are obsolete and in need of reconstruction. Melikov stressed the need to allocate federal funds for these works.
"Let us discuss all this with you further. I repeat, the relevant instructions to the government will be given, and you will have copies of these documents," Putin replied.
Invitation to Dagestan
The president thanked for the invitation to visit Dagestan to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the poet Rasul Gamzatov, which will be marked in 2023.
"Thank you very much, Sergey Alimovich, for the invitation. I always go to Dagestan with a special feeling," the head of state said Melikov, who stressed that the preparation of this celebration is an "honorable and responsible task" for Dagestan.
According to Melikov, Putin's visit to the republic during the anniversary will raise the status of the celebrations "and once again show the whole world that Rasul Gamzatov is a universally recognized poet of great Russia." "And by this time we will try to reinforce this with certain results of positive shifts in the socio-economic development of the republic," the acting head of Dagestan assured.
Putin agreed that the upcoming celebration will be a big event. "Let's think about how to organize it in the best possible way, because Rasul Gamzatov glorified not only his native Dagestan, the Avar part, the whole of Dagestan, but in general, I would say, the whole Soviet Union, Russia in this case," the president noted.
