Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the fight against terrorism with the Russian Security Council on Friday, noting the special importance of this topic for domestic security.
"We will discuss with you today an issue that is extremely important for the internal security of our country. It has not lost its relevance for very many states of the world over the past decades, and today it is of particular importance for us," Putin said, opening an operational meeting with the permanent members of the Russian Security Council. "We are talking about the fight against terrorism," he specified.
Putin noted that several reports were expected and gave the floor to FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov.
The meeting was attended by Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, Security Council Deputy Chairman Dmitry Medvedev, Presidential Administration Chief Anton Vaino, Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, Federal Security Service Director Alexander Bortnikov, Foreign Intelligence Service Director Sergey Naryshkin, Special Presidential Representative on the Issues of Environmental Activities, Ecology and Transport Sergei Ivanov.
