Russian President Vladimir Putin said he got a second component of the coronavirus vaccine.

"Right now <...> I have had the second vaccination," Putin said on Wednesday at a meeting of the Russian Geographical Society (RGS) board of trustees. "I hope everything will be fine," he said. - "It's not even that I hope, I'm sure of it." Putin expressed hope that others at the meeting will also follow his example, including out of concern for themselves and their loved ones.

The head of state also expressed hope that the pandemic would soon go down, including through vaccination. "I hope that the pandemic will soon recede, including thanks to vaccination, which we actively distribute," he said.
Putin considers the RGS's practice of summer meetings in various regions to be a good one. He noted that "during the pandemic, it was difficult, almost impossible."

The president received the first component of the vaccine on March 23. Neither Putin himself, nor his representatives deliberately disclosed which particular drug was used, explaining that all three domestic vaccines were effective and safe. The head of state said that he felt fine after the first vaccination and only felt mild discomfort in his left shoulder for a few days. He announced his plans to be vaccinated himself at the end of March.
