Putin vaccinated against coronavirus

24 March 2021

Russian President Vladimir Putin has been vaccinated against the coronavirus and is feeling well. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian leader, told TASS on Tuesday that the head of state would have a full working day on Wednesday.

"Putin has been vaccinated against the coronavirus. He is feeling well," the Kremlin representative noted. - Tomorrow he will have a full working day."

The Kremlin did not specify which of the three Russian vaccines the head of state chose. Peskov said earlier that the Kremlin deliberately refrained from specifying which vaccine would be used when vaccinating the president, noting that "all three Russian vaccines are absolutely reliable and effective". The vaccination of the Russian leader was not a public event, as some politicians do in other countries. The Kremlin spokesperson explained the reasons to journalists on Tuesday: "As for vaccination under cameras, he [Putin] doesn't like it."

On December 17, 2020, at a large press conference, the Russian president said that he would definitely get the covid vaccination as soon as it became possible. Putin then explained that he listened to the recommendations of experts regarding age restrictions on vaccination at this stage. Later, the spokesperson for the head of state explained that Putin's choice of the time to vaccinate against covid is also due to other vaccinations that he does in time, and doctors do not recommend using them at the same time.
