A Russian Su-27 fighter from the air defense forces on duty in the southern military district rose to intercept an American P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft over the Black sea. This was reported on Thursday in the National Defense Management Center (NDMC) of the Russian Federation.
"The crew of a Russian fighter jet approached the air object at a safe distance, identified it as an American P-8A Poseidon reconnaissance aircraft," the Center said.
They also noted that after the turn of the American plane from the state border, "the Russian fighter returned safely to the home airfield."
The flight of the Russian Su-27 took place strictly in accordance with international rules for the use of airspace. "Violation of the state border of the Russian Federation was not allowed," the NDMC stressed.
