The Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia has issued a fatwa (theological opinion) disapproving the believers' unreasonable refusals to be vaccinated against coronavirus.
"Categorical unfounded refusal to vaccinate and the spreading of fake rumors about its composition and consequences are not welcome. As long as there is free mass vaccination in our state with preparations that meet high international requirements, it would be advisable for all our compatriots to vaccinate themselves and their families in consultation with doctors and in the absence of contraindications to do so," the fatwa of the Assembly Ulema Council, published Monday, says.
The fatwa also prescribes the observance of precautions during Eid al-Adha celebrations, the observance of social distance in mosques, the performance of traditional holiday rites and gatherings online, and the ordering of online holiday sacrifices.
"The Spiritual Assembly of Muslims of Russia, employees of its structural subdivisions and branches in the regions and imam-hatibs should conduct a detailed and large-scale explanatory work on the content of this fatwa among the population," the document says.
