The Religious Board of Muslims of Russia has received information from the developers of the Sputnik V vaccine about its composition, according to preliminary data, there is nothing forbidden for Muslims in it, said Mufti Ildar Alyautdinov, Deputy Chairman of the organization, to RIA Novosti.
Earlier, Muslims were concerned with the conformity of the components of the new vaccines with the halal requirements of the Islamic religion. The believers were especially concerned about the use of porcine gelatin in the manufacturing process. As the Muftiate of Tatarstan told RIA Novosti earlier, if it was somehow used, then the vaccine is not halal, and the question of the permissibility of its use by Muslims should be decided by theologians.
"The answer came from the developers. Pig gelatin is not there, nor are there any human components (cell lines). In essence, at first glance, we can say that there is nothing forbidden in terms of Islam," Alyautdinov said.
According to him, the developers have been asked clarifying questions on the composition of the vaccine, and a joint meeting of theologians with representatives of scientific institutes involved in vaccine development is scheduled for next week.
"We are also preparing a theological-legal opinion, a fatwa, on this matter," the mufti explained.
