Special services and law enforcement agents have recently prevented several terrorist attacks in the form of armed attacks on educational institutions in various regions of Russia, the National Anti-Terrorist Committee (NAC) reported on Tuesday following a joint meeting of the committee and the Federal Operational Headquarters, which was held by NAC chairman and FSB Director Alexander Bortnikov.

"In his speech, the NAC chairman noted that a number of terrorist crimes have recently been prevented at educational facilities, some of which were prepared by members of cells of international terrorist organizations in Moscow, Crimea, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Stavropol Territory and the Tver region. Supporters of a destructive ideology known as Columbine were involved in the preparation of most of them," NAC noted.

On February 2 the Supreme Court of Russia recognized "Columbine" to be a terrorist organization, the activity of which is prohibited on the territory of the country due to increased public danger.

NAC noted that the authorities and anti-terrorist commissions take necessary measures to ensure the anti-terrorist security of educational institutions. Operational headquarters in the constituent entities of the Russian Federation conduct exercises and drills. "Under the coordinating role of NAC, other measures are taken to strengthen the interaction of power structures," NAC added.

Particular attention is paid to the training of school personnel and security guards for practical actions under the threat of a terrorist attack in various forms, as well as increasing the personal responsibility of the relevant managers for the organization of this work.
